Vietnamese traditions value the reuse of materials. There's a large second-hand market. For example, near post offices are vendors who use previously used cardboard boxes to make a box for you of whatever size you need for mailing at the post office.

You will find these great as gifts - some are pen holders, photo/recipe holders, tea light holders.  You will even find them designed as wind chimes!
